The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a * Flood Warning for the South Branch Potomac River near Springfield.

* From late tonight to Tuesday afternoon.

* At 9:30 AM EST Sunday the stage was 5.5 feet, or 9.5 feet below flood stage.

* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.

* Minor flooding is forecast.

* Forecast...
The river is expected to rise above flood stage late tomorrow morning to a crest of 16.1 feet tomorrow evening. It will then fall below flood stage early Tuesday morning.

* Impact...
At 17.0 feet, Water approaches camphouses downstream from the gage.

This crest compares to a previous crest of 16.1 feet on 02/26/1936.
