At 108 PM EDT, scattered strong thunderstorms had developed from near Mt. Airy, to Meadows of Dan, to Roanoke. The storms are showing little movement. One to two inches of rain could fall in an hour or less with these storms producing localized flooding.
These storms may intensify and require a Flood Advisory or Warning within the next hour.
Locations impacted include...
Roanoke...
Salem...
Vinton...
Stuart...
Boones Mill...
Copper Hill...
and Ferrum.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
