Special Weather Statement issued December 3 at 3:32AM EST by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
An area of snow showers continues to push southeast across Charlotte and vicinity this morning. These snow showers were responsible for as much as 1.5 inches of accumulation as they moved across the I-40 earlier this morning, and up to an inch of snow is possible across portions of Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, and Union Counties before the snow showers push out of the area prior to sunrise. Despite warm road temperatures, the snow may fall quickly enough to accumulate on roads and cause hazardous driving conditions. Additionally, temperatures are expected to fall into the mid-20s across the I-40 corridor by sunrise, and any lingering snow-covered or wet roads are likely to freeze in these locations.
Use extra caution if driving this morning and allow for additional time to reach your destination.
