Stokes County in north central North Carolina... Eastern Surry County in northwestern North Carolina... Yadkin County in northwestern North Carolina... Southeastern Patrick County in southwestern Virginia... * Until 500 AM EDT. * At 235 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicates heavy rain has exited the warned area. However, thunderstorms earlier this evening produced between 4 and locally 7.5 inches of rain in eastern Surry County, western Stokes County, and southwest Patrick County. Rivers and creeks continue to rise due to heavy runoff from this rainfall. This is a very dangerous situation as numerous roads remain flooded this morning, with the potential that motorists may unknowingly drive into deep flood waters, not realizing the flooding is there due to the darkness. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
