Air Quality Alert issued March 22 at 2:27PM EDT by NWS Baltimore MD/Washington DC
West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection - Air Quality Division has issued a Code Orange Air Quality Action Day for Fine Particulates due to smoke from regional wildfires for Berkeley, Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Mineral, Morgan, and Pendleton Counties until midnight EDT tonight.
Air Quality Index (AQI) values are expected to be in the 51 to 100 range, which may pose a risk for those with preexisting respiratory illness, or other sensitive groups such as young children and the elderly. The effects of poor air quality can be reduced by limiting strenuous activity outdoors.
An Air Quality Action Day means that Fine Particulates concentrations within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards.
