The Flood Watch will expire for portions of Piedmont and western North Carolina, including the following areas, in Piedmont North Carolina, Cabarrus, Catawba, Cleveland, Davie, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg and Rowan. In western North Carolina, Buncombe, Burke Mountains, Eastern McDowell, Eastern Polk, Graham, Greater Burke, Greater Rutherford, Haywood, Henderson, Macon, Madison, McDowell Mountains, Mitchell, Northern Jackson, Polk Mountains, Rutherford Mountains, Southern Jackson, Swain, Transylvania and Yancey.
The flash flooding threat has ended. Therefore, the Flood Watch will expire at 8 PM EDT this evening.
Highly localized and brief periods of heavy rainfall remain possible, but impacts are expected to be insignificant. Continue to heed any remaining road closures.
