...Snow Showers and Black Ice Tonight...
Expect scattered to numerous snow showers tonight along and west of the Blue Ridge. Snowfall amounts by morning will be up to 2 inches from just west of Lewisburg south to Tazewell and in western sections of Grayson County Virginia into Watauga County North Carolina. New snow amounts will be less than one inch from the Alleghany Highlands through the Roanoke and New River Valleys, and in the foothills of North Carolina.
Lows temperatures will range from the lower 20s to the lower 30s tonight, so snow that melted Monday will refreeze. Be prepared for areas of black ice overnight and during the morning commute, especially on untreated roads and sidewalks.
Also, wind speeds will increase from the northwest tonight. Wind gusts of 25 to 40 mph are likely, especially at higher elevations.
This may result in downed tree limbs and branches that were already weighed down by the heavy wet snow.
