Special Weather Statement issued November 29 at 1:57PM EST by NWS Baltimore MD/Washington DC
Scattered to numerous snow showers and squalls are likely between now and 8pm this evening.
Accumulations are expected to be highest over the west-facing slopes near and above 2500 feet in western Garrett and extreme western Grant Counties, where and additional 1 to 3 inches of snow is possible.
Wind gusts of up to 35 mph are also expected during this time.
This may create areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility, resulting in hazardous travel.
Wind chill factors will fall from the teens this afternoon into the single digits to below zero later this evening and into the overnight hours.
Slick travel is possible along the I-68/US-40 corridor west of Frostburg, US-219 from the PA line south into West Virginia, and US-48 from Moorefield, WV west to the Canaan Valley. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
