Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE... Portions of north central Maryland, including the following areas, Frederick and Washington, Virginia, including the following areas, Albemarle, Augusta, Central Virginia Blue Ridge, Clarke, Culpeper, Eastern Highland, Frederick, Greene, Madison, Nelson, Northern Fauquier, Northern Virginia Blue Ridge, Orange, Page, Rappahannock, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Southern Fauquier, Warren, Western Highland and Western Loudoun, and West Virginia, including the following areas, Berkeley, Eastern Grant, Eastern Mineral, Eastern Pendleton, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Morgan, Western Grant, Western Mineral and Western Pendleton. * WHEN... From 4 PM EDT this afternoon through late tonight. * IMPACTS... Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Localized considerable flooding is possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - As a slow-moving frontal system tracks across the area, multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are possible. A round of thunderstorms with heavy rain will move into the area this afternoon, followed by a shift to a slow moving complex of moderate to heavy rain into the evening and night. An area of total rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is likely, with localized amounts up to 5 inches possible.
