James River At Richmond Westham affecting City of Richmond, Henrico and Chesterfield Counties. Appomattox River At Mattoax affecting Powhatan, Chesterfield and Amelia Counties. ...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Virginia... Appomattox River Above Farmville affecting Prince Edward, Cumberland and Amelia Counties. For the Lower James Basin...including Richmond Locks, Richmond Westham, Cartersville...Moderate flooding is forecast. For the Appomattox Basin...including Farmville, Mattoax, Matoaca... Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT... Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE... Appomattox River above Farmville. * WHEN... Until early Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS... At 18.0 feet, River Rd downstream of the gage near the railroad bridge begins to flood. At 20.0 feet, South Street, Depot Street and East Second Steet are flooded and impassable near Gross Creek. River Road and North Virginia Street are closed and impassable. Water reaches the structures and business along Plank Road near Main Street and also the Appomattox River Company building. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:20 AM EST Sunday the stage was 16.7 feet. - Bankfull stage is 12.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 9:20 AM EST Sunday was 16.7 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 20.0 feet late this evening.
