Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches with locally higher amounts are expected in elevations above 3500 feet along the Tennessee border. Other areas are expected to see amounts from a dusting up to 3 inches.

* WHERE...
Avery, Madison, Yancey and Mitchell Counties.

* WHEN...
Until 4 PM EST this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...
Travel could be difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
A Wind Advisory remains in effect for Avery, Mitchell, and Yancey counties until 7 pm. Strong wind gusts could cause some blowing and drifting of the snow. Wind chill values may drop into the single digits on some of the high mountain peaks above 5000 feet.
