A large area of showers with embedded thunderstorms will continue across the piedmont of Virginia and North Carolina through mid morning.
Some of the stronger thunderstorms will produce a period of heavy rain and brief wind gust up to 30 mph.
If you are traveling this morning, plan on reduced visibility due to the pockets of heavy rain, and allow extra time to reach your destination.
