Minor flooding as a result of 2 to 3 inches of rain that fell across the Roanoke area and upstream basins overnight and early this morning.

* WHERE...
City of Roanoke, especially the downtown area and areas adjacent to the Roanoke River and its tributaries.

* WHEN...
Until 1245 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...
Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
River or stream flows are elevated. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 849 AM EDT, At 900 AM EDT this morning, the Roanoke River at Roanoke had reached 6.1 feet and was rising slowly. Action stage at this location is 6.0 feet. Flood stage is 10.0 feet. The river is expected to crest below flood stage. The river is not expected to reach flood stage with this rainfall event. However, the elevated level of the river may result in minor flooding near the river and along its tributaries within Roanoke City.
- Roanoke River in Downtown Roanoke is the most likely place to experience minor flooding.
