Areas of light snow will continue across the North Carolina mountains into mid morning, mainly along the North Carolina and Tennessee border, Smokies, and the highest peaks over the southwest mountains. Up to an inch of snow is expected for most elevations above 4000 feet, with the higher ridgetops receiving up to an two inches in snowfall totals before the snow tapers off.
The light snowfall will accumulate on some roadways, resulting is slick spots, especially on secondary roads, bridges and overpasses. Motorists are urged to drive at a reduced speed and exercise extreme caution.
