Canceled 12/4/24 6:49 PM Blizzard Warning issued December 4 at 10:56AM EST until December 5 at 3:00PM EST by NWS Baltimore MD/Washington DC * WHAT... Blizzard conditions. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 7 inches expected, with locally up to 9 inches possible especially on the western-facing slopes above 2500 feet. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph. Visibility one quarter mile or less. * WHERE... In Maryland, Garrett County. In West Virginia, Western Grant and Western Pendleton Counties. This includes the Interstate 68 and Highway 219 corridors, as well as Highway 33 west of Seneca Rocks, and Highways 48 and 50 west of Bismarck and Mount Storm. * WHEN... From 9 PM this evening to 3 PM EST Thursday. The heaviest snow, lowest visibility, and strongest wind is expected between midnight and noon. * IMPACTS... Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions will impact the Thursday morning commute. Strong winds could cause damage to trees and power lines resulting in power outages. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are possible at times early Thursday morning. Blowing snow may continue to reduce visibility through Thursday afternoon even after accumulating snow ends. Additional light snowfall is likely Thursday night. Wind chills will drop to near or below zero by Thursday evening. |
