Canceled 6/16/25 11:53 AM Flood Watch issued June 16 at 2:59AM EDT until June 17 at 2:00AM EDT by NWS Raleigh NC A northwest to southeast front over central NC will provide a corridor of rounds of thunderstorms this very heavy rain. One round will occur in some areas this morning, while the additional rounds are expected this afternoon into tonight. Some areas have already seen 4+ inches of rain in 12 to 24 hours. Additional heavy rain will produce life threatening flash flooding. * WHAT... Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE... A portion of central North Carolina, including the following counties, Alamance, Anson, Chatham, Cumberland, Davidson, Durham, Edgecombe, Forsyth, Franklin, Granville, Guilford, Halifax, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Lee, Montgomery, Moore, Nash, Orange, Person, Randolph, Richmond, Sampson, Scotland, Stanly, Vance, Wake, Warren, Wayne and Wilson. * WHEN... Through late tonight. * IMPACTS... Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Training and repeating thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall will occur today and tonight. Some areas have had 4+ inches of rainfall already. Additional corridors of 2 to 5 inches of rain may fall today. If training occurs over the same areas that have already had heavy rain or in urban areas, life threatening flash flooding can quickly result.
