Canceled 7/21/24 1:30 PM Special Weather Statement issued July 21 at 12:40PM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA At 1235 PM EDT, radar indicated an increase in shower activity across Watauga and Ashe counties in North Carolina. These showers showed very little movement. Due to the slow movement, rainfall amounts could exceed 1 to 2 inches. Winds in excess of 30 mph are also possible. Locations impacted include... Boone... Jefferson... West Jefferson... Blowing Rock... Beech Mountain... Lansing... and Foscoe. Locally heavy rain will quickly reduce visibility and result in ponding of water on roadways, standing water in low lying areas, and minor flooding of creeks, streams, and areas of poor drainage. Drivers are urged to slow down and use extra caution to avoid hydroplaning. |
