Special Weather Statement issued September 17 at 11:59PM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
As skies clear in the wake of a cold front, rapid nighttime cooling and moist surface conditions have permitted patchy fog to form in parts of the Piedmont. Numerous sites along the US 221 and US 321 corridors have seen visibility drop below 1 mile, and as low as a quarter mile in a few spots. Drier air will push in toward daybreak and will promote improving visibility conditions.
Take extra caution if driving overnight, and be prepared for rapid changes in visibility. Slow down and use low-beam headlights, and leave more space than usual between vehicles.
