* WHAT...
Persistent heavy rainfall on previously saturated ground in the general area between Ararat VA and Mt. Airy NC.

* WHERE...
Northeast Surry county in northwest North Carolina.
Southeast Patrick county in southwest Virginia.

* WHEN...
Until 800 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...
Impacts: Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 624 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms in the advisory area. Overflowing poor drainage resulting from heavy rain on already saturated ground will result in increased potential for flooding, especially minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 2 inches of rain have already fallen during the past couple of hours.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Ararat River, Johnson Creek, Archies Creek, Birds Branch, Big Creek, Doe Run Creek, Kings Run, Silverleaf Creek, Faulkner Creek, Toms Creek and Lovills Creek.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
