Patchy dense fog is forming in northwest North Carolina and portions of southern Virginia. Clearing skies and plenty of surface moisture is leading to quick formation of dense fog in these areas. Several observation sites in the North Carolina foothills have reported visibilities of a quarter of a mile. If traveling, plan extra time, and use caution when driving in these areas. Changes in visibility can occur quickly. Use low-beam headlights and drive slower when encountering fog.
