At 656 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 5 miles northeast of Elizabethton to 10 miles southeast of Newport, and moving east at 80 mph.
Locations to be impacted include...
Spruce Pine, Burnsville, Marshall, Newland, Mars Hill, Banner Elk, Hot Springs, Elk Park, Bakersville and Beech Mountain In Avery County.
Wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible in these areas.
