At 1044 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms near the Tennessee border just south and west of Beech Mountain, moving northeast at 35 mph.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. Heavy rain.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Excessive rainfall may flood roadside ditches causing debris to be washed onto the highway.
Flooding of poor drainage areas also possible.
