Deep mixing, and warm afternoon temperatures will promote relative humidity values around or slightly below 30 percent this afternoon across southwest Virginia, the central and northeast Tennessee valley, and portions of the east Tennessee mountains.
Additionally, downslope winds will be increasing through the day, especially in the mountains. Gusts of 15 to 20 mph can be expected in the low elevations by late this afternoon, with gusts exceeding 30 mph in the mountains and foothills.
These conditions will lead to increased fire danger today.
Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you may burn outdoors today.
