Patchy dense fog has developed this morning across the mountain valleys and is reducing visibility to 1/4 mile or less at times.
Motorists traveling along I-40 and I-26 through the North Carolina mountains, and other roads and highways across the area should be prepared for sudden deterioration in visibility. Slow down, turn on your low beam headlights, and leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you. Fog should improve in most areas by 900 AM.
