Patchy dense fog has formed across portions of the North Carolina Piedmont, especially across the I-40 corridor from Old Fort east to Statesville, where visibility is less than one-quarter mile in spots. The remainder of the night generally will be foggy, with dense fog and very low visibility possible through daybreak.
Visibility may decrease suddenly and over short distances due to the patchy nature of the fog. Motorists traveling on area roadways should use extra caution. Slow down, increase following distance, and turn on your low-beam headlights.
