Canceled 8/16/26 8:42 AM Flash Flood Warning issued August 16 at 8:17AM EDT until August 16 at 10:30AM EDT by NWS Charleston WV At 817 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Fayetteville, Oak Hill, Montgomery, Chesapeake, Marmet, Ansted, Belle, Cedar Grove, East Bank, Glasgow, Smithers, Gauley Bridge, Pratt, Burnwell, Powellton, Hawks Nest State Park, Coal Fork, Handley, Sylvester and Thurmond. This includes the following highways... Route 19 between mile markers 8 and 16...and between mile markers 18 and 23. West Virginia Turnpike between mile markers 57 and 92. ![]() |
